Proposal

I have written 3 proposals this week. I am pretty proud of myself. Only minimal amends needed and they were ready to send out.

In other news i've been asked to write a case study for one of our biggest projects so i am super excited to get cracking on that :)

Disgusted.

Designer Katrin Baumgarten has created a project exploring the idea of inanimate objects being disgusted by human touch.

She has created a number of extraordinary objects, including one which simulates goose bumps on human skin when it is touched and one which starts to squirm like a fish when it is held.

My favourite were the light switches as shown below.

The Creators Project Party - London

I went to the Creators Project Party for an innovative night of music, technology, art and booze last saturday. I landed my free ticket by registering on their website and low and behold i was granted two tickets.

The party promised to be an eclectic mix of top musical artists, film directors, producers, visual artists and technological innovation. It was an exhibition with live performances and DJ's intwined. Not to mention the free bar all night. (I paid for it the following morning let me tell you).

Victoria House Basement was a perfect venue for the party and I was impressed when i arrived. I attended with the boyfriend and one of my close friends from university. I was herded around the venue by tightly dressed scene kids with oversized glasses and vintage clothing. I was hit by the amount of beautiful people in this place. Surely not just co-incidence?

I couldn't stay for the entire night unfortunately as some of us had work the next day. But what i did see was really good. I watched Spike Jonze's film about two robots who fell in love. The direction and idea was brilliant.

I also took part in the Pop Song Panel where we made a song as an audience with a producer and singer/songwriter Jammer. It was slow to get started but the auditorium was full of adrenaline.

The highlight of the night was Mark Ronson & The Business International. His charisma on stage lit the room on fire and the crowd was electric. I didn't even mind having my feet trod on and elbows in my side. I sang Bang Bang Bang the whole way home.

After this i retired home. After several completely free Black Bull's (Eristoff Black Vodka and Red Bull) i'd staggered to the tube station to find i'd missed the last tube home and instead had to conquer two long night buses.

What a night.

Topshop New Website

Topshop have launched a new website design this week. Being a fashion follower and huge Topshop fan it was a bit of a shock not to see the polka dot version i'd grown so fond of.

After the initial surprise, i was rather happy with the new website. It has a more designer feel to it and gives the impression of a more up-market label. Although they haven't focused on usability the general aethetic is sleek and chic with clean cut edges and minimalistic detail.

I have noticed that zooming in on the products have been much improved. They also have alternate views of each item, which is welcomed from me. I often want to see this because as i can't touch and feel the product i want to be able to look at it from every angle possible and super up close.

I think there is still some bugs to iron out with the website. When clicking the drop down menus a strange white box also appears blocking out some of the image behind. This should be recitified to complete its transformation.

I'm just hoping the prices don't become too designer now!

Facebook adds CEOP

Facebook has added a new application that gives children direct access to CEOP's services and advice. They can also report any untoward behaviour straight to CEOP.

Young users will have to add the application directly to their page to be able to use it. They will be urged to share it with their friends and there will be an awareness campaign marketed towards children and teenagers to get them to add the application.

I really hope children stay safe on the net by downloading the application and taking the proper precautions.
